Louisiana Governor Landry Signs Senate Bill 232!

Bill 232 secures Louisiana’s place as one of the most competitive states in the nation for film and TV production. The bill became effective June 4, 2025.

What Remains 

  • $125M annual cap 

  • 25% tax credit on the base investment for state-certified productions (includes all out-of-state labor)

  • Extra 15% credit for hiring qualified Louisiana resident personnel

  • Extra 5% for VFX work done with a state qualified company

  • Extra 10% for resident screenplay

What’s New 

  • No per-project caps

  • No per-person salary cap

  • Minimum base investment greater than $150k

  • Louisiana can now negotiate better deals for long-term and repeat projects

State Tax Credit

Louisiana's Motion Picture Production Program provides motion picture productions up to a 40% tax credit on total qualified in-state production expenditures, including resident and non-resident labor.

25% base credit on qualified in-state production expenditures

10% increase for Louisiana screenplay productions

5% increase if outside of the New Orleans Metro Statistical Area
